CMake 3.0 Compatibility
There has been quite some discussion on the mailing list on the subject of supporting CMake 3.0 in the 2.6 release. It seems to boil down to the following situation:
- The release works fine with CMake 3.0, if we revert a single patch (tested by Markus).
- There is no actual downside to requiring CMake 3.0 instead of CMake 3.1.
- Nobody insists on advertising compatibility with CMake 3.0, we just don't want to shut the door unnecessarily.
- CI-testing with CMake 3.0 is not required.
- All Core Modules should require the same version of CMake.
- For the master, everyone is happy with CMake 3.1+.
If this is correct, I suggest to revert the single patch in the 2.6 release branch only. The release notes can still require CMake 3.1+, i.e., we do not officially support CMake 3.0.
