pdelab extension?

Out of interest: is this a pdelab extension or is this more general? It depends on pdelab and all header files that I had a look at seemed to include pdelab files. I would really like to only have modules in 'extension' that are actually extensions of the core modules (or are at least aimed at being thus). But of course others might see this differently.

PS: stagging is fine as well I guess
