Description
The GenericGeometries need to be fast -- no doubt about that. However this speed issue matters more to some people than to others. Unfortunately, it is quite difficult for the latter group to modify GenericGeometries, because any change may influence the speed in a way that only the former group will notice.
I therefore ask for the addition of a (set of) benchmark problem(s) for the GenericGeometries. It should represent the speed requirements that satisfy everybody, in particular those with the tightest speed requirements. Changes to the code that do not slow down the benchmark could then be confidently made by anybody.
